My bedroom was painted eggshell white but now I would like to paint just one wall with an accent color of lilac. So would this take one coat of paint or more?

Should take only one coat but it depends on how light or dark the color is that you will be covering and on the quality of the paint itself. Have you considered a accent color with more contrast? Example, tan walls with a dark blue accent wall.

2 coats is always going to be better.

  • It depends on the paint. Some is 1-coat coverage.

  • Since it is white already, one coat might be fine. You will have to decide though, because it will depend on how well your coverage is when you paint.

It depends on the paint. Some paints' color will be weaker with only one coat. I hope you have fun painting your bedroom. Lilac is such a pretty color.

It depends on how old the eggshell paint is. If the drywall has been up for years, it will have dried out and you may need the two coats for such a vibrant shade. Trial and error is the key to a nice job .

It depends on how well one coat covers the accent wall.

It depends on the quality of paint (you really DO get what you pay for!) and how dark you want the accent wall. If it’s a pale lilac you desire, one coat might be sufficient. A dark lilac might need two coats.

Even if it´s white, I think it probably needs 2 coats so that you get the color down evenly.
