Kitchen colors are any colors you like. I'd take into consideration the lighting - you really want a light bright kitchen due to the work done there. I'd also want it to blend with the colors in the rest of the house.
You can look at swatches at the hardware stores, and then have them make a paint sample for you. You bring the samples home and paint a small place on your wall and decide which one you like.

Look in your closet. What color is predominately in there? Use a lighter version of that color. You'll always be comfortable in your environment.
I had a large kitchen once that had oak cabinets and I painted it cobalt blue
What color are your cabinets? Whatever color you use on the walls, etc needs to complement them.
