I can not use an over the door hanger because my door will not close with it on. Currently I am using 4 magnetic hooks hoping that it will still work when it really gets cold and snows.icon

Are you saying that the 4 magnetic hooks are fastened to the glass area of the storm door OR are fastened to the area around/outside the glass area? If the hooks are on the area around the glass, is your door metal or wood?

The hooks come in a package of 2. You put one magnetic hook on the front of the glass and the other magnet hook on the back side of the glass. It works great in the summer because my summer wreaths are not as heavy as my Christmas wreaths. The hooks are meant for glass but you could use just one on a steel door. I get them at a local floral shop but I have seen in some craft stores.

HI Nan. You can find big suction cup hooks made to hang wreaths. I have 2 that I put on the glass and they have stay on for 2 years.

Im picturing the magnets on one side of the glass and the wreath on the other which I don’t think temperature will effect. The weight of snow and ice could be a problem though.

If it is exposed to the weather, I would get a heavy duty command hook and hang the wreath with that. Once it’s hanging, I would reinforce with the magnets, just to be sure.

We have a glass storm door too. We hanged our wreath on the outside of the door with a coat hanger stretched out to go over the top of the door and bent on the other end to work as a hook. We used a light metal coat hanger that was easy to pull it into a long hanger. I put my hand on the hook and stretched the hanger down with the other hand to make a double wire long hanger. It is white and does not show against our inner door. It has served us well for nearly 6 yrs as I always have a wreath for the season on it.

I suggest using 3M COMMAND hooks!

Hi Amanda, I tried them last year and they just slide down the door with my wreath, but I will give it another try. Thank you

What is the outer area of your storm door made of? Is it Wood or is it a metal door! Or is the entire storm door glass with just a thin metal frame holding the glass in place?

I had a tricky door that just didn’t look right with a wreath but there was a narrow brick adjacent wall (sort of an alcove) that suited it well. We have a great store here called Lee Valley that sell something called “Brick Clips”. They clip onto bricks very well and hold a heavy wreath. If you find your magnets fail and you have a brick house, you could go online and see if they deliver to the US. They also have incredibly strong magnets. I used one for a heavy wreath on a metal door. It was so strong, I couldn’t pull it off when I moved so I left it behind.
