What would you like to do with your 4x5' opening in wall between dining & living room?
Please explain to us just where the opening is. Is this an actual hole in the wall? Help us help you.

i rember a house i was in when i was quite young.. there was a pass thru about that size..a wooden cover would fold outward and down for serving food in the dining room. chains on the sides held it level.
You can remodel the opening with a new countertop, some bar stools and "tadah" a new breakfast/coffee bar is born.
I'm trying to get my husband to pull a "TOWANDA" and OPEN our area even MORE. If it's not a load-bearing wall, OPEN IT UP!
Turn it into a bar . Nice wood and some pretty brackets
Did you want this to be a permanent closure or might you be thinking about a window that you could close or open? Maybe a removable panel? Is there a wooden frame around the opening? Are the walls on both sides painted drywall?
