What tempeture should I keep my thermostat when I am not home?

I have an older home. 1919 I replaced my furnace & AC November 2016. Just had it serviced, inspected. Replaced the filter on the humidifier. I worry I could come home from work to a flood if I don't keep it warm enough. Right now I am keeping it at 65.

That's the same temp we keep ours at when we aren't home. If you have a programmable thermostat it's even easier, so it will warm up before you get home.

If it's any consolation..I keep MINE at 58 :) I have dogs and a dog door. As my mom used to say...Do you want to heat the streets??

To be safe? Why not just call your service repair company and ask them their opinion?

My grandma used to say "put a blanket on that door it's cold". I love old sayings. But yes, keeping it on is what it's for. You can make the pipes happy by opening the cupboard doors at night but also insulate the outdoor spigots.

That is warm enough to protect the plumbing... and cool enough that the furnace isn't running all day.... unless it is really freezing out.
