Last year about this time I redid my guest bathroom and I used stone spray paint to redo the bathroom countertop. I originally wanted to do a rustic countertop i.e. using pallets and putting a vessel sink in. The pallets would have been no cost but the vessel sinks can be expensive. I was doing my holiday shopping on Amazon and got side tracked looking at sink/faucet combos. I found a perfect sink and faucet for $109 with free shipping. I ordered it! My husband was not to happy to say the least, lol. He is always telling me to leave things alone they are fine, we’ll I just don’t listen so that brings me to this post and the wonderful outcome. We started off by going thru my stacks of pallets and deciding which ones to use. I chose a wider board. We then removed the old sink top which was really easy. I scored where the backsplash met the wall with a razor to try and get it to come off without taking paint off in the process. Next we disconnected the sink plumbing. The piece lifted right off. We then made a frame out of 1x2 to attach the pallets to. Next we attached the pallets with a nail gun and put back on the cabinet. I sanded and stained after putting on, I could have done it before but it works either way. I wanted the wood to look weathered so I stained everything grey then went over with ebony and then white stain. I smeared and wiped until I got the desired look and color. I did not wait for each color to dry. I let the stain dry overnight and then sealed with Varathane one coat. Putting the sink in was simple. I set the sink on the top of the counter and drew a circle where the drain needed to be drilled out. Next we connected all the plumbing. I could not turn the water on full because the water pressure caused major splashing and the mirror was getting all wet, we just adjusted the water flow and it works perfect. I wished I had done this originally.

The before was very pretty, but very routine. Your "after" is anything but routine. The rustic pallet counter with the very modern sink and faucet is a beautiful juxtaposition.

OK, when will husbands just learn that we won't be stopped and that they might have to help?! You husband did an amazing job with your vision. So both of you should be extremely proud of the outcome. I'm not even a fan of those types of sinks and yet I soooo love it! This is the only time that I can honestly say that I could see having that in my house. You don't know me ,but that says alot! I love it. Enjoy it and seriously how do you not just want to stare at it! 👍👍👍👏👏👏
