It's wonderful to display photos of friends and family in your home, especially during the holiday season. This cheery sign is a great way to incorporate your favorite photos into your Christmas decorating!
This fun holiday project uses a piece of mat board or poster board, your favorite photos, a frame, and some beaded garland. But if you don't want to use photographs, you could also use old Christmas cards, wrapping paper, or scrapbook paper to decorate your sign. I have all the materials listed on my blog.

This sign design can also be used for photo displays for other times of the year, using words like family, welcome, happy, and thankful.
The first step in making your sign is to decide on the word you want to use for your sign, the typeface, and the size of your overall sign. I recommend using a short word, which will be easier to cut out. I used the Word program on my computer to try different typefaces. You can try your word in a vertical or horizontal position, or in some other arrangement.
When you've chosen your typeface and size for your sign, print out your word to make a paper template. Then use a craft or utility knife to cut out the letters of your word. Use your paper template to trace your word, then cut your letters out of a piece of mat or poster board. I have all the directions with photos on my blog.
Next, working slowly one letter at a time, add a thin line of hot glue around each side of your letters and glue some beaded garland or trim around your word.
Check out my blog for the different way to finish off your sign with family photos, old Christmas cards, wrapping paper, or scrapbook paper. Happy Holidays!

Thanks so much, Abigail! It was fun to go through some old photos to find ones to use for this project. I always keep those photos Christmas cards from family so I was able to use some photographs of extended family too!
