Paint questions are ones own preference .What colors do you like, and keep in mind with a heavy design on the curtains, simple painting may be the the right choice
I'm thinking that something dark would let them stand out maybe something like a black panel on each side, if you don't want to paint the whole area that color. But with the beige walls, maybe a coffee brown would be a better choice. Unfortunately, that's not going to help the light coming in. I'm also not quite sure what Royal Velvet color actually looks like. Is it gold, blue or purple? I know you said gold sheers but the Royal Velvet doesn't sound like sheers. What ever you do you want something opposite in color to the window curtains to make them stand out. Are you painting the walls or just the window area? Also, are the curtains right at the window or do they hang further out like some people do with a bay window. Depending on how the curtains are hanging, could you put a window seat in that area and paint it the opposite of the color of the curtains? For example, if the curtains are dark, paint them white. Wishing you the best.
I would add a white background first then paint over it with a sheer opalescent color of your walls this will allow it to reflect any light that may come in as well as add interest to the area that otherwise is lacking in your eyes.
A light blue would be great, for it would help the glaring sun, not to shine forth. This is harmful to the eyes. Or, ask at a store, about this. J.
I agree, a light/ steel blue would look lovely! Keep us posted!
