My first husband was in that business and he always recommended 55 degrees, but this article says 5- degrees so that's what I'd use. Times have changed since he recommended that 35 years ago. :) Wishing you the best.

If you will be in the house or someone painting, it will need to be above 60 degrees for painting.
Oye! I did the same thing (leave a house empty while selling it and one day the basement flooded and nobody noticed for weeks. Set the temp so that pipes do not freeze and burst if that is a possibility in your area. 55 degrees is fine but maybe someone can st by every few days and check?
55 if the house is empty, or warm enough so your pipes do not freeze. If you will be painting, I would bump it up to at least 65.
I agree with the above comments. Anywhere between 55 and 60 should be fine.
Oh my goodness Chrissgrijak, I am so sorry for your loss. This must be so hard for you. Please come back to Home Talk as much as you need to. Wishing you well.
Oh, you're very welcome. I wish you only the best.
