It needs good drainage, so a standard cactus potting soil mix should be sufficient.
what a beautiful plant!
cactus soil and a container with drainage holes
Here in Florida, they grow in any dirt. I throw them on the ground and they just grow!
I live in SA,TX..those little buggers pop up anywhere & everywhere. We don't even have good soil here and lots of clay type soil and they grow like crazy!
Try mixing half sand/half potting soil. Maybe throw a couple handfuls of perlite in. Usually succulents and cactus like plants lile having a lot of sand mixed in their soil.
I like adding worm castings and compost to everything in my garden, but I dont know if it would be recommended for that type of plant.
I use regular planting soil and watch how much I water. I also have them growing outside in regular dirt. They are pretty much hard to kill and I have had success with them mostly everywhere.
It appears that your plant is indoor so Inspirledhome has a great soil mix for you. I wanted to add that you appear to be doing something right already as your plant is gorgeous!
in my experience, the plant will grow in whatever dirt wherever it's "children" fall I have this plant growing in almost all my houseplants, but I find it an interesting addition
AKA: artillery plant, that plant will grow in anything, even carpeting.
when you put your soil in put in broken clay pot with your soil it feeds a plant as well as taking up room in the pot too drain the water. also a very small amount of either clean sand as in not from the beach as it might have fleas small pea stones will help with drainage also. careful not to water more than once a week. if you're concerned when to water stick your finger in up to your second knuckle if it's dry water it if it's not don't. Healthy plant growing it's a beauty good luck with it.
Dirt, they will take over, love it
i cant help but would love to have one. i live in central mississippi. anybody know where i can find this plant?
I used to just use good ol' Miracle Gro potting soil. Mine used to grow so tall I had to cut them down and put the cut piece in the soil to root. They were in an East window and they even used to flower for me.
I live in Alabama northwest part of the state, these things live in all my potted plants, my mother brot some back from Savannah Ga 20 yrs ago and we have had them ever since. Mine grow in a mix of compost soil, I have my own composters n make my own dirt.
I would love to have one too! Have never heard of this plant! Where could I get one in Nebraska??
I have one of these, it has put baby's in all the plants around it. I mix 2 cups potting soil, 2 of nursery grade sand and 1 cup permits. Plant in clay pot. Happy Holidays.
I didn't say I wanted to kill them did I?..because mostly I just mow them over and don't give them no never mind. I don't use round up anyways! nasty stuff there! We use a more natural approach with vinegar and salt and oils (peppermint and eucalyptus).
