My future daughter-in-law likes lanterns and once I started looking at them decided I liked them too. I found a red one with Christmas trees on it at Aldi. It is meant for use with a battery operated candle only. I wanted to fill it up with Christmas ornaments and light it up!!
I bought these lights at Walgreens. Im sure you use other Christmas lights too.
They are battery powered String of LED lights.
Place the lantern on its back. Place a few ornaments in the back. Then lay the lights in there kind of poking some lights down in the spaces between the ornaments. Put the battery pack with the switch to the front, in the bottom of lantern so you can reach it. I did this with the lights turned on so I could Place them better.
Then lay more ornaments on top of the lights & other Ornaments making sure some lights came through the front also. You could also try adding some pine cones mixed in there as well. No need to fill it to the top unless you just want to, mine is about 3/4 full.
Clasp the door and stand it up. You will need to be careful opening & closing it to turn on the switch. I love how the lights shine on the ornaments!
This would also be a great centerpiece on your Christmas table too!! Or a cute nightlight during Christmas.
