My daughters requested that I make them unicorn dolls as part of my ongoing effort to throw a unicorn themed birthday party. So, I agreed and here is the tutorial for a really easy and fast project that you can do in your spare time.
starting with a piece of fabric, I took Two pieces and ironed them one of top of the other, with the fabric pattern sides on the inside. Next, I made an outline of the unicorn shape I wanted and drew it directly onto the fabric with a light pen.
Next, I stitched the two pieces of fabric together along my line. I sewed it by hand, but it would be so much faster with a machine. I used a whip stitch and left a section open on the unicorn’s back for me to turn it inside out and stuff in the future.
Next, I cut out my unicorn shape around My sewed edges.
Next I turned it right-side out, through the hole in its back. I stuffed it densely, starring by filling the point of the horn. I like them to be really really stuffed so I just kept working more and more stuffing inside it until there was no more room.
Once it was filled all the way, I stitched up the back hole.
After this, I still needed to add eyes, nostrils, mane and tail, and I also wanted to stitch my daughter’s name into the back side. I started with the hand Seen parts.
Name
Eyes and nostril.
Next, I got some extra yarn and a crochet hook. I tied a slip know and croqueted a few lines for the mane. Through these lines I would tie loose yarn pieces for a look of hair.
Simple crocheting
The base for the mane.
Loose strings of yarn tied through the crocheted base.
The finished mane and tail. For the tail, I did the same thing that I did with the mane, by crocheting a small square and stringing Ron pieces through it.
Finally, I hand stitched the mane and tail to the unicorn doll. Here is the finished product:
And the matching one for my other daughter.
Sew easy! Do you think you want to give it a try?
