I had parts and pieces of old wreaths, wires, bows, and painted pine cones I gathered to make a new welcome wreath. The Welcome sign was free from Amazon for posting projects last month on Hometalkers, and the only thing new.
The berries were on an old fall bouquet from years past. The bow was in the "toss" pile from cutting back on our boxes of decorations and reorganizing our supplies. Since it was a bow with some life in it, I reformed it and put it on the old wreath wire. I bought some paint for the welcome sign and the rest I gathered out of the supply tub of former projects.
After gathering the possible supplies to make the wreath, I decided how I might combine the supplies to form a new wreath. I have been wanting to make a newer welcome sign for our front door.
The bow was easily wired to the wire wreath, but the welcome sign needed some paint. I decided on red spray paint and took it outside. Mid-December is not usually warm in the 50's, but it was today. It seemed like a perfect day to begin the wreath. Always paint where you have good ventilation. I prefer to do it outside on a cardboard box or table.
I let it dry outside until it grew dark and then brought it inside before going to bed.
I laid all the parts I wanted to use on the wire to see where they would be placed and then used floral wire I had on hand to attach each item. Since the wire wreath is so limited in space I chose the floral or craft wire over using a hot glue gun this time. Ignore the date, my camera date keeps resetting itself for some reason. Like me, it is getting old and all the parts do not always work as they should, ha.
I wanted a NEW welcome wreath for the front door, but this is a composite of used materials except for the paint and welcome sign. I like it because it is light and not so full looking as most the wreaths this time of year. It turned out colorful, bright, airy, and cheerful. Perfect! A wreath does not have to be complicated or expensive. It should just reflect your home atmosphere and make guests feel welcome.
