How to brighten kitchen with a dark stone backsplash

The backsplash in my small kitchen is of dark grey heavily textured tiles with a bit of brown and the slightest tinge of mustard coloring. The counters are chipped and need replacing. I want to use counters that will be durable and lighten the space without changing the backsplash. I’ve thought of both stone and butcher block, or those enamel top stone look counters also caught my eye. I like the look of stone but am afraid it will clash with the stone backsplash I already have. The current counters are dark grey and dreary and the cabinets are “shabbified“ white. Any suggestions?
