Want to repurpose or upcycle Mom's knitting caddy

I just can't seem to let go of my mom's old knitting caddy. I do crochet and sew, but wonder if anyone has used these in any other way? I can recover it to better suit my style, but can you think of some way I could add to or make it even more useful? Thank you, Hometalkers.

Put it your closet as a hamper for undies and special things... Because it belonged to your Mom... find a place to keep it useful and safe

Never would have thought of a special little hamper. Nice idea. Thank you so much!

  • Towels in the bathroom, dog toys, (I have a lot of dogs), throw storage, magazine rack, catchall for stairs, keep by bedside for books, tablet, kleenex. No matter what you do, just keep it!

    • Oh that's great! You are most welcome. Yes, try different things till something feels right. I have a bunch of my parents and grandparents stuff. Some has absolutely no monetary value, it was just always "there" and I kept just as a happy reminder of days gone by.

I would keep it next to where I do most of my smaller crafts (in my case, in front of the TV), so that things are handy when I want to keep my hands busy (and not snack).

You sound like me--in front of TV trying not to snack.. Good idea. Thank you

It's the perfect size and shape for a magazine rack. Or, maybe remove and frame the fabric. Include a little note with a cute saying like Mom was "sew" great. I hope this helps you. I'm so sorry for your loss.

That's a neat idea I never would have thought of. Thank you so much!

Since this brings back memories - I'd leave it alone rather than recover or paint it. It could be used as a magazine rack or to hold rolled up towels in the bathroom...lots of things.

Put an artificial plant in it.

I would place it in the laundry room as a conversation piece and add a long picture over it of a laundry seen 📌🎄

I store my household tools in mine that I use to hang pictures, etc, it looks good no matter where I leave it and it's easy to find.
