Yes, we had one in our yard growing up for years - but we lived in Florida. If you live in a cold climate, you could plant it in a large pot.

I replant mine in a larger pot and enjoy it all year. The only thing I haven't been able to do is get it to bloom again. It just stays green.

Poinsettias originally came from Mexico, so unless you live in a tropical area or at least subtropical,it probably would not survive outside.
