At the end of the summer I took my hydrangea leaves and with a rolling pin pressed them into clay. I then peeled off the leaf and cut away the printed leaf. I oven cured them and saved them until now. I’m going to make them into holly pkg toppers. You can do the same thing with a holly cookie cutter and clay. With a straw make a hole near the top so they can hang.
Peel off the leaf
Once you have cut out your leaves, follow the directions on the clay for the temperature and time for curing.
Meanwhile take your red clay. Roll them into berries. I ran out of red so I used red, dark pink and medium pink kneading them together. Make 3 berries per leaf. Set them on the cookie sheet in a cluster of three for curing.
Cluster 3 berries.
Once the clay has oven cured, usually 30minutes, go ahead and paint both sides of your leaves.
TIP: If you have enough green clay, cut your shape from this, that way you can eliminate the painting step. I used a lime green, and a dark green paint on each leaf
Paint both sides.
After this dried I applied gold glitter glue over both sides. Once I applied it I wiped off excess with a paper towel. The glitter gets into the lines of the leaf and looks really festive!

Once this dries, use E-6000 to glue the berry clusters to the top of each leaf near the hole that will be used for the ribbon.
Waiting for ribbon.
Cut a small piece of ribbon for each leaf. Tie into a loop. Insert finished loop into hole and insert tied end into the loop pulling tight. This is called a larkshead knot.

You can use as a pkg topper

Or you can even use them as ornaments on a tree
