Depends on your kitchen - small, large, bright, dark. And your wants - dramatic, happy, laid back, soothing. Invest in brightening up your kitchen with under cabinet lighting. After doing that, go to your closet and see what colors you wear that make you feel what you want in the kitchen. Then use that color, either the exact, lighter or darker. You'll feel good every time you enter the room. That's the hottest color for you.

Look at some pictures to get ideas. Also consider going to real estate open houses in your area for ideas. It is best to pick a shade that you like and fits with your home - then go for the latest / hottest. Then you also have to consider the color of your flooring / cabinets. Also how much lighting do you have in the room? Some stores will let you get a small portion of paint which you can paint on a poster to see how the light changes it in your room. Of just use paint chips. The color can change form the AM to the PM depending on your light.

There really is no "hottest color" - it is a marketing tool for the design industry. The best color for your kitchen is one that you like, one that goes with things you already own, and one that coordinates with other rooms. There are no hard and fast rules. That's the beauty of DIY!

  • The hottest color is the one you like :). Mine kitchen is currently 'Quietude' by Shermin-Williams. It's a pretty blue but I wish I had used a Greige. Last weekend we repainted our bathroom 'Mega Greige' by Shermin-Williams, it's such a warm and soothing color.

Those are 'trending' colors I chose. I hope you find something you love!

Why limit yourself to one color? I have three in my new kitchen, all in shades of blue/gray. Love it! Getting compliments all the time. One color on the backsplash, one color on a wall where our large table is located and a third color surrounding the walls around the cupboards and on the soffit over the cabinets.

Who cares if a color is hot or not what goes best in your kitchen is what counts. Ask yourself what compliments your cabinets or flooring?

I agree... I am going to be selling my home by Spring and the consultant suggested Sherwin Williams Pure White in the Pro Classic. It comes in oil based and water based. I used the water base. If you like color I agree you might have to experiment a bit and buy sample courts but I have heard a greige is a hot color right now with white cabinets.
