I will be sharing a DIY Resin Wood Slice Side Table. This was my first time working with resin and I will admit I was a little nervous. But once I read the directions and saw that everything you needed, right down to the mixing cups was provided, I relaxed and had fun with it. Here is an easy tutorial:

Supplies
Wrought Iron Table Legs (thrift store)
Envirotex Lite Pour-On High Gloss Finish
I followed the directions to a T, as it does state how important it is to have the exact measurements in order for the product to work properly. I wanted the grain of the wood to show, so I sanded it down a little first. Next, I mixed equal parts resin and hardner and poured it slowly on the wood piece.
This was immediately after pouring it on . I went back in with a brush and filled in the sides as I wanted the bark covered as well. It gave it a nice rich sheen. After about 15 minutes you will start to see air bubbles form. You literally just breathe on it and they will disappear. It’s a pretty cool process! I left it to dry for about 5 hours.

Next, I attached the legs to the bottom of the wood and it was done! I absolutely love this product and have enough left over to do another project. Wouldn’t a large console table be cool?

Did you treat the underside of the table? I would love to do this also. A great job, thanks for sharing...

Where did you get the wood slice from?

Will this prevent the wood from cracking/splitting? I covered slices with polyurethane and they still split!! Your project is beautiful btw!

Love this. I am going to have to cut down a tree my daddy planted for me when we bought our house and it is now not healthy so it needs to come down because of a danger of falling. I was wondering what could be done with some slices out of the center of the tree and this is a great idea.

I’m literally one day away from making a side table or plant stand. I will use polyurethane because resin is not in my craft budget yet. But I have been weathering my wood slice since Feb. and it’s June now. I wIll sand it and more. ☺️
