This set is one of my absolute favorite sets I've done as far as dining room furniture. The chairs and the table were found by the dumpster. Can you believe it? I do believe someone else's trash is another one's treasure!!!! The chairs are actually from another post I posted about using a shower curtain for material.
Here's a before of the top of the table! It was an absolute disaster. We took a palm sander and sanded the top. I then wiped it down with my vinegar and water mix to get the goop off. Then I Bullseye side with my 1-2-3 primered the entire piece.
Here's a before picture of the breathtaking pedestal!!
The chairs were absolutely filthy but I saw a vision! I cleaned up the wood on the chairs and we actually covered these chairs with an old nautical shower curtain that we had.
I took a bunch of my throwback clearance colors that I had in my stash and layered them on top of the 1-2-3 Bullseye with a dry brush technique I like to call Slappy slap. It gives it some dimension!!! I love experimenting with new colors and different techniques.
The top of this piece I used a foam roller to roll it out for an even look! I find using a roller instead of a brush for the top provides a beautiful finish. I do like to use a flat finish as far as paint because I feel it goes on smoother than gloss acrylic.
As I stated in one of my previous posts here on hometalk I used the material from an old nautical shower curtain that we had to recover the seats after I painted it with a creamy beige color I had in my stash.
I then used a thick shower curtain liner to cover the material on the seats because I have a child that likes to make a mess every once in awhile when she's eating teeheee. I absolutely love how the whole set turned out! Can you believe that someone left this set by the trash!? I love the idea of taking something that was going to be trash forever and finding it or forever home which is most of the time in my home. Beautiful! I would like to do the same with my round table. You wrote that you used a flat paint on the top of the table yet I see a slight sheen. Did you use a sealer over it?

You did a fantastic work of art with this table! Oh, to have talent like you have!

So what kind of paint did you use? Is it made for furniture? Or was it a flat wall paint like I've seen people use and do wonders with using on furniture ?? Do you think this would work for the hutch that matches the table!
