New concrete poured 12.15.17, concerned with curing and unevenness.

Pictures taken 12.19.17 at dusk. Really concerned, we knocked all the old concrete out because of the stains and uneven, and this looks worse. Waiting to hear back from contractor. Feedback welcome.

  • Keep it watered down at least twice a day for the first week. It takes at least a full 30 days to cure completely, this is no where the finished product. Sometimes longer depending on the weather. This is perfectly normal. What was the temperature the day they poured? What were the after care instructions?

    Needs more time to cure/dry.

You need to get in touch with the contractor. So many variables. Type of mix used. Addition of calcium chloride can cause the salts to migrate to the surface. Was the concrete covered to slow evaporation and assist curing. Also it may have not been finished properly to allow moisture (cream) to surface.

It does take a while to cure so I would wait.

We had a concrete pad poured in our new poll barn. I took 30 days to cure completely. We could drive on it after 2 weeks. It looked just like yours. After a few weeks the light and dark spots came together as one color.

Please don't fret. Just give it time to cure. Remember Rome wasn't built in 1 day. lol
