Hello. Well that wasn't a good job by the contractor. So sorry for you. Can you add a thicker piece of molding so it is flush with the side of the counter? Usually with the laminate tops you cut the pieces to size. Then you buy a kit that matches the finish to put on the ends. Not sure why he couldn't have done that, and why he cut it into the wall. We installed one a few years ago and that is what we did. My opinion is that the side piece, or back splash should have been cut to the same width of the counter, and wall minus the bull nose . Then you see the beauty of the bull nose edge. Then installed on top of the counter and chalked at the seams. I wish you luck.

Sorry but if It was my house I would make him re-do it.

Personally I think I would cut that side panel off to reveal that lovely bull nose entirely. Then you can cover the cut edge with white trim that would match your door frame etc.

Great idea, the last time I worked with a laminate it included strips for edging that were really easy to just iron on!

Well I would not give that contractor a good reference! I do think a GOOD contractor will have to rectify this for you.

I agree with Amanda! That is a LOUSY job. I would do exactly what GrandmasHouseDIY suggests. Trim the edge of the part that is sticking out revealing the whole bull nose recessed in it. Paint the cut edge white to match the trim.

Whoa.....that's an awful excuse for carpentry/craftsmanship. Call contractor back and demand it be fixed, at his cost. It may not make a difference but at least you will be able to let him know you are not at all satisfied. The side splash can be cut to fit the bullnose, but it will take someone that knows how to do it correctly and apply end that will have to be heat applied to form to shape. Why did the contractor cut out the wall and put the side splash inset like that? I would say cabinetry and trim work is definitely not this contractor's long suit. Good luck.

I totally agree with everyone else. The contractor did a lousy job and it should be on him to fix it. If he has a business be sure to do a negative google and yelp review under his company name if he refuses to fix it. That should get some action. :) Wishing you the best & Happy Holidays!
