Gardening With Covered Raised Beds
Keep your food growing without the animals interfering inside a covered raised bed.
To be honest I created this idea out of necessity because my chickens were messing with my garden.
I was tired of it and this concept became a solution.
The covered raised beds keeps chickens and small animals away from growing plants.
The 2 x 4 frame is covered with chicken wire allowing the honey bees to enter for pollination.
you can build these frames in any size, it's a build similar to a raised bed where you combine each piece from the corner and then attach the wire.
Hinges are a must and make opening and closing a breeze. My beds here are 4 x 8 so you can imagine lifting without 2 basic door hinges attached would be difficult.
When you need to weed or harvest simply open the lid and get busy.
In between these times the chickens can still roam the garden and eat bugs between the beds without disturbing the plants.
I also like to use these beds for all planting. When freezing temperatures arrive I can cover with tarps until it passes and have fresh broccoli and lettuce till it's time to prep the soil and replant a season later.
Discover the covered raised bed as a solution to extend the life of your plants and keep critters away. It's a win situation that also is visibly pleasing to any garden space. > For more Picture Click here.
