With these three bottles, I use the same method to prepare them.
  1. Remove labels and all adhesive
  2. Wash thoroughly
  3. Wipe down with rubbing alcohol (using 70%) and allow to dry.
The first layer of paint on all my bottles is really Gesso. Gesso contains glue and it has a lot more stick-tooy-tiviness than just regular acrylic paint therefore, it creates a wonderful base. I buy these little sauce cups at Smart and Final, but they are the same used in most fast food Mexican restaurants. They are great for holding a small amount of paint/Gesso and also the alcohol. If I need to walk away for a few, I just pop on the lid.
Each of these three bottle will have a different application. This particular bottle will be accessorized using a molded fabric. The fabric in this case is very soft and thin, almost like silk.

As with my previous project "Wine/Plant Holder", I mixed the molding slurry using 1/4 cup each of the Plaster of Paris, Elmers Glue and water. In this case I added about 1 TBSP of the acrylic white paint.

Once the slurry is ready, I dip the fabric in it and work it with my gloved hands to insure it is completely saturated. The bottle and the platter are completely covered with shrink wrap. The fabric is then wrapped around the bottle and set out to dry.
This wine bottle wrap, can be removed. I mention this, because this particular part of this project, can be used as a "Wine Wrap Gift" and can be moved from bottle to bottle in the future. I thought it important also, as I might want to change it out with the season. It is painted silver and sprinkled with silver glitter.
I show you the "Wine Bottle Wrap" separately, just so you can see that it could go from bottle to bottle or removed seasonally.
The bottle on the left is accessorized with lace around the bottom, with "diamond" flatbacks, a wedding dress applique and chain with variety of charms around the neck. The bottle on the right, is accessorized with a doily and lace around the neck and bottom, a doily in the center and a sparkly snowflake. The sparkly blue sprays coordinate with the blue in the poinsettias to complete the arrangement.
