I have a group of trees that surround the dining area of my backyard. I want to be able to hang the chandelier over my dining table. What sort of wire system would you recommend? Or chains? Or ropes?

You can buy yards of thin chain at a hardware store. And attach the chain horizontally between two opposite trees. Hang chandelier from another piece of chain suspended vertically from the center with a small "s" hook. You could spray paint the chain to match the chandelier. If you are feeling more ambitious, you could add a second horizontal chain from two other opposite trees, to make an "X," with the light hanging from the middle. Good luck!

For an outdoor chandelier I would make use of solar lights. That way you can cut out the mess with wires and chains-https://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/lights/how-to-make-an-outdoor-solar-chandelier-8688020
