Can I paint an inexpensive plastic wading pool?

I keep the wading pools in the yard for my geese to splash in but I'd like to change the color of the pool to match the seasonal decor. Orange in the fall, red at Christmas, green in the Spring...

I seem to recall that these paints are not recommended for water immersion type of exposure (I was hoping to paint a 5 gallon bucket) , you may need to read the find print on the directions before purchasing to see if it will stand up to your desired use.
