I'm looking for another functional or beautiful idea that is inexpensive. The first opening on the right is a laundry room. I the back is my bedroom door. The doorway is 32 by 80.It's in high trafficked area of the house and I wish to disguise it when it is closed.. I was going to do a bookcase door but they are pricey,
If you look to the far right you'll see the doorway, The doorway is right between the kitchen and dining room.I need it to disappear when closed. I'm looking for another functional or beautiful idea that is inexpensive. The first opening on the right is a laundry room.

I would make a Roman Shade and paint or silk screen it. That area needs air flow and I'd turn it into a piece of art... maybe a Chinese style silk screen? The Roman Shade will be up and out of the way when you need to use the space unencumbered.

A shower curtain (they are neat and not expensive) would make a cool screen/artwork, I would use velcro for a seamless look. Just un-velcro side when in use and tie back out of the way then re-attach

You could add a picture to the door, just like you would to any wall. Maybe try to make the wood work around the door less noticeable too?

A sliding door would look great. It won't be easy to hide the fact that there is an opening there and have it look good. A sliding door with "barn" door hardware is not that expensive and looks great. Amazon has really nice looking sliding door hardware for around $100 or more in stainless steel, bronze, black and other finishes. you can use a hallow core door or plywood cut to size of a used door. If you Google barn or sliding door ideas you will be amazed at how it will dress up a room. I installed one in my bathroom and it was really easy to install. I made sure that I screwed the brackets into studs for stability. I also bought a door that was taller and wider that the opening so it would cover the opening completely.

You can make a book shelf door fairly easily if they door opens out into the hallway. Just make sure that the books or nicknacks are attached to the shelf well . So if by mistake the door is slammed or the side of the shelf strikes the wall everything isn't slung off on to the floor. What you need is a piano Hing the length of the door and 1/2×4or6 board's depending on how deep you want your shelves. to make the frame and shelves.
