I always feel a little melancholy when the Christmas decorations and tree come down. I decided to redecorate the tree to add a little “Happy” in anticipation of the New Year, transforming the Christmas Tree into a Countdown Tree for New Year's Eve.
My sister’s family was visiting us after Christmas and staying for New Year’s. In celebration, I packed up all the red and green and Santa-themed Christmas ornaments on our tree, then I pulled together any white, gold and silver ornaments I had. A top hat from the party store serves as a festive and inexpensive New Year's Eve tree topper!
I started with multiple rolls of festive ribbon, to fill in and tuck among the branches. I waited until after Christmas to buy my ribbon so it was all on clearance at 75% off. The silver and gold ribbon was an easy and affordable way to add some New Year's Eve sparkle and shimmer!
I found some sparkling and glittery floral picks for the tree on clearance for some silver shimmer and shine and added some New Year’s Eve party blowouts to tuck in the branches.
You can find affordable New Year's party kits online or at party stores with a combination of festive party horns, tiaras and blow-outs fill the spaces on the branches for a New Year’s Eve celebration.
Gold and silver bands of glittering ribbon, all on clearance at 75% hang on the tree reminiscent of streaming party confetti.
Party horns come in packages of 2 dozen for around $5 to fill in among the branches and decorate a New Year's Eve Tree. I even found some clock ornaments on sale to hang for a New Year's Eve countdown!
This was a fun and festive project if you're staying at home with friends or family to watch the Ball Drop. Transforming the tree with NYE party supplies, ribbon and hanging a few ornaments goes quickly and once your tree is bare and ready to decorate!
I set a table by the tree for New Year's Eve with clocks and clock plates to a New Year's Eve celebration. More photos and details at the link below!
