Lots of math! How big is your planter? Is it going around a tree or something?

You left out the only things that matter: diameter of the round planter, and length of the bricks.

Not sure if this is the correct answer but here is what I would do: take a string and lay it on the ground where you want the planter. Wrap it around the area and then measure how long the string is. Use that measurement when you go to pick up the bricks and tell whoever is working what you are doing. Most companies will have employees that can help with how many bricks you will need. Hope this helps.

Companies that sell pavers will tell you if you have measurements. Some big box stores as well.

Don't know when your aunt lived there, but it's now a city of about 38,000. Not as big as Chicago, but not Sleepy Glen either. Anyway, when I did mine, I took a section of rope and spaced it equidistant around the tree as far out as I wanted it. Then when it was laying where I was satisfied, I marked the rope at each length of brick (8 inches). then I knew "approximately" how many I needed. If you're going two high, make sure you multiply your number of bricks times two. You should probably get a few extra bricks in case you have to cut a couple of them. It's old school, but I'm really lousy at math. It worked for me. Otherwise you can try to Google a brick calculator, but they are confusing.
