FOLEX carpet cleaner!!! carpet installer told me about this (I have cats that upchuck frequently) when installing new carpet. this stuff is GENIUS! buy at Lowe's (spray bottle or gallon jug). first blot up/remove all "stuff", blot as much moisture as possible, shake bottle, spray on the spot, let sit a minute, take index finger, spread around (it will foam a little, like soda), then blot with dry cloth; may need to be repeated, but spot comes up like magic! An old friend also told me to try club soda; blot/remove any residue, pour/spray a bit of club soda on spot, then blot. ALWAYS test an inconspicuous spot before using cleaners. this stuff works great, we used the club soda and Folex on her priceless heirloom oriental rugs (I happened to spill orange soda one time, she used the club, came right up).

I really like my Bissell Pro-Heat. Has done a lot of spot duty at my house and friends, mostly to everyone's amazement.

You don't mention if you are cleaning a bodily fluids incursion, plant that was knocked over, or grease that was tracked in. I know, clean is clean but how you get there can be very different. I've had the best luck with Resolve brand carpet cleaners when I didn't have the machine.

I adore Spot Shot carpet cleaner. Blue can with orange cap. Aerosol not the regulR spray they make.

Depends on the spot. Berber is made to be scrubbed so just about anything that cleans can be used on it without changing the color or texture of the fabric. However, if in doubt, start with a hidden area and put on a small amount of cleaner. Do not use a stiff brush or you might fuzz up the fibers. Start mild and work to stronger cleaners. Regular dish soap or laundry detergent mixed with water gets rid of most dirt stains. Rinse the area once clean and blot dry. Keep covered with a towel in traffic areas until it is totally dry. Oily stains might require a strong rug cleaner product. Wine and chocolate come out with an oxygen type cleaner. Years ago I bought a mechanical rug cleaning machine at a garage sale and it works perfectly on my berber rug. Good luck!
