What color paint works?

We have a 2 story stairwell to an upstairs hallway that leads to the bedrooms. The bedrooms blend well using metallic in one, gray and mustard in another and the third is forest green and brown. What color or shade of paint would you use? I was thinking of a green, but can’t decide.

That depends on how much lighting g the stairwell has?

Myself, I would want it to blend in with the area on the main floor it comes off of and the hallway at the top of the stairs, It need not tie in with one of the bedrooms since they are very differing color schemes. The only way to tie them in would be to find a wall paper that has all your colors, or the main ones and run it down the hall and down the stairway walls. This is my opinion only, what you decide to do is up to you because you will be living with the decision and should do what makes you happy and love what you are doing.

Is this stair well visible from the living room? You want to consider that as the more important color it must blend with. Also a stairwell does not typically have much natural light, so any color may look darker once on the walls.

Hi Hillela, Thank you for the suggestion. Yes a blue gray would be beautiful. However, I forget to add my husband hates blue!!! Happy New Year 🎆

Does this color have to match or compliment any other colors that are already in the room?
