Any number of colors will work with your red brick, Toes. See if you don't find this helpful: http://www.bhg.com/home-improvement/exteriors/curb-appeal/exterior-paint-colors-with-brick/

A different door would help, you almost can't see it because it blends in so well. Shutters would help brighten up the brick walls. Perhaps a largish plant that is tall in a large pot between the window and the garage door. If you change the front door, perhaps you can also do something to the garage door also, since it looks like they pretty well match. You could also use some more colorful plants up by the house.

I'm sure you can do more with the landscaping. Sort of hard to tell, as it looks lke a work in progress. I would not do much with the house, but I am partial to having the underside of an overhang/ porch painted blue. The concrete landing could have some greenery/ maybe a continuation of the brick? perhaps even extended or enlarged ? Looks lke you can barely stand on the same level as the open door? The house looks so square, and short... I would be trying to think of a way to add curves or roundness, and variety of height - but in keeping with the neat and petitie scale.

    A few ideas:

    1. Remove the screen door and paint the existing door a bright color that coordinates with the bricks - maybe dark brown on the frame and burnt orange on the 3 panels

    2. Paint the concrete steps the same color as the door frame

    3. Put up shutters on both windows in the color of the door panels

    4. Paint the garage doors to match the frame and panels on the front door

    5. Move the hanging planters to flank the front door not hiding the bay window

    6. Put the house numbers on the painted concrete staircase stoop

Not sure how much you wanted to spend but take a look on line at craftsman style homes. Think out of the box. Add interest by changing the roof line. Literally pull out an inviting porch area with ceiling fan and lighting where you can sit and enjoy a sunrise or sunset and maybe interact with the neighbors, and a pop of color on the front door. Also, you might think about changing the garage door to a carriage style and adding some artistic house numbers and lighting. These are not detailed specifics but it might get your own creative juices running.

The door color and Shutters and garage color are going to be a good touch for sure. Once you start on front yard grass, adding so landscape taller bushes or a tree will help add to the house as well.

I agree with others about painting your door and garage but no shutters. If it were my house I’d be looking at long term if I couldn’t afford it now by thinking of making that small porch into a longer and maybe wider one that goes past the large window. The existing railing would be replaced with a more substantial one (thicker posts and caps) all the way across. You dont even have to remove the cement because you can have the new porch installed right over top of the old one and extended with painted or stained wood or composite which needs neither. Seating with colourful pillows etc.

I stated that if it were my house well basically it was. I did exactly that to our previous ranch style home and it totally transformed it. Neighbours stopped by to complement what we’d done and thank us for raising home values in our area. (Smile). It worked!
