I have been racking my brain to put a name to this plant that has grown up again in my raised flower bed. It is a very strong plant that has a little pal but it is loving these winter months.
Does anyone in the Community know the name of this plant so that I can put a name tag on it and so that I can do a little research on it.

Euphorbia - Yellow flower - Do be careful as the sap could be an irritant!

Thank you for your reply and also your warning about the sap being a possible irritant. I must admit on the occasions when I have handled the plant without wearing gloves my skin did tend to go red and itchy.

The two plants are on a raised bed and I don't think that they would tolerate being moved so I may need to put some sort of low fencing around the bed to prevent my dog or myself from having to much contact with the plants and just enjoy them from afar.

Many thanks again John for the info

This Euphorbia is supposed to deter moles in the garden, I am giving it a try!

Thank you Pam for your reply fortunately I don't have a problem with moles in my garden but now that I know the name of my plants and also the warning that John gave me regarding the Sap being an irritant I can now take the necessary Precautions and enjoy the plants from afar.

Janet is correct, there are a lot of different types of Euphorbia and their leaf shape, flower and growth pattern are widely diverse as well. They do have one thing in common: a white milky poisonous sap. If you really want to know which kind it is, take the little one to your county extension office and they'll identify it (Google county extension or cooperative; it's typically associated with your state university and they'll have offices all over the place).

Thank you for your reply Janet, now that I know the name of the plants I have I have been able to learn a fair bit about them.

By the sound of it you are very lucky to have County Extension Offices in America where the they can help you identify plants.

We are not so lucky to have somewhere like this in the uk but I was given the name of a website that can identify different types of plants through a picture.

Many thanks once again, Mel UK
