What to use to stop drafts from coming in the sides of a door?

Put on some weatherstripping. You can buy stick on kind at the big box store. If it is around the molding on the door, caulk!

Jeanette is right! If it's from the sides of the door, get the weatherstripping that is made of rubber, not felt, so that it will actually make a good seal once the door is closed.

There are kits you can buy especially for weatherstripping doors. They are not expensive and are easy to install.

Weather stripping may help. Use alcohol pads to wipe the surface, then, with the door closed, butt the stopping up to the door. On the bottom you can get a fabric covered foam pad that slides in the bottom to stop drafts down there

we have this problem, esp in our back hall. Husband tried weather stripping etc, but you still can feel a draft. Right now we are having sub zero temps and as an emergency measure, I have hung down coats over the opening side of the door edge. Works pretty well.

Try the spray foam in the can. This is good for both windows and doors. If you can, try to remove the moulding, fill the space with the spray and then reinstall the moulding. You will get a much better job this way.

There is a V-shaped vinyl strip you can buy at your local homeowners store. It actually is flat and you fold it. It's in the insulation strip/draft items section it's also inexpensive and really works great. I like it more than foam strips because it can be used in a really wide range of gaps. I did my door for less than $5.00.
