I live in Delaware with an eastern exposure for my jungle in the living area. My philodendrons, spider, aloe, Wandering Jew, Norfolk Island Pine, and many more are thriving with this exposure. I moved and had to start fresh from mostly cuttings from my twin. I plan to buy African Violets, as Sandra mentioned.
Depending on your taste in plants (and patience) just about any indoor plant will grow happily in an east window. You can try herbs like thyme and basil, African violets (NEVER water their leaves), orchids (if you're patient), greenery that hangs in baskets like Spider plants, Bromeliades, Snake plants and even Christmas cactus. More to the point is the amount of humidity in the room - which should stay as constant as possible. I use a mist sprayer or sometimes a small room humidifier in the dryer months.

East is the morning sun so it is usually less harsh. This should be a good exposure for most indoor plants.
