100 percent cure. It's called "Mr Metal". You can buy at Meyers or Amazon and eBay. Not expensive. Use a small rag and work it in. Rag will turn black. Take off film and rinse. A dish or piece of jewelry will turn out beautifully.Bought silver bracelet at thrift store for $3.98 it was black. Mr Metal did it's job. Was told it worth $90 and up. Priceless to me. Give it a try. They say baking sofa works too but have never tried.

I sell a lot of silver on Ebay. Jewelry, silverware, serving sets. Silver polish and dips tend to remove some of the metal. The foil method doesn't work that great and still leaves a grey film that still needs to be removed AND it also removes some of the metal. I use white toothpaste (not gel)and a damp toothbrush. For large items I use a damp cloth. Also works on copper, brass, gold, porcelain, ceramics, sneakers, plastics, etc. For my sales I needed one product for cleaning everything.

I also use the toothpaste and it works really well. It may take some scrubbing if it is really black and built up, but it will work and is easier to clean up that the residual left with silver polish. The clean up can take as long as the cleaning. Not with the toothpaste, it rinses off really easily.
