I loved making these as a child and I have an amazing garden so I started making them again and now I can hang all my plants these can be used indoors also
all you need is yarn ,rope or macrame wool scissors and a tape measure
Measure out and cut 8 lengths of yarn to 3metres long then ypu fold all together into half so in fact you now have 16 lengths at 1.5
you can tie a knot up top but leaving part out so you have somewere to hang from or you take a smaller price maybe 20 cm long and make a loop you leave a longer tail at the bottom and u leave the little end of the loop put be carful not to wrap around that little end as you will need that soon
See the little end left out I. This pic .. Using the longer tail at the bottom you start winding back up around firmly to make it neat
Once you reach we’re you left the little loop you put the end in the loop at the bottom of your work on this part u should have that thread hanging out I told yiu about just above
place the piece you wound up into the loop then holding that you pull the little end we left out and it will pull that into it and make it all neat
This is what you pull just pull it about half way through the nice knot you made from winding and snip off any loose ends there
This is what you should now have :) it is fiddly but once you have done it once it is actually really easy
Now make into 4x 4 and you are ready to begin your knots I find it easier to put a hook or something in the top now and hang it somewere to work on my high kitchen cupboard handles seem to be just right for me and my height
hold 2 centre pieces and make the shape of a number 4 then bring the other side rope under and back up through and pull making your 1st knot. Then do a reverse 4 the same way and do that 4x .. you can keep doing a normal 4 the whole way it will cause a twist pattern Which I will put a pic further down and you can do more knots in fact you can knot the whole way but if you are a beginner this so a easy way to get the hang of it before you attempt that as it will take hours with hundreds of knots
it will now start looking like this continue till u have all 4 made
Once you have the 1st 4 made these will become your main strands that hold your plant now nect step is repeating this step about 20 cm down
So thI will take the 4 middle pieces and 20 cm down make another 4 knots and do the same on each till they are all joined together i Then repeat that 2more tome 20 cm down
once I am happy with the length I do the same as I did at the start with the loop and winding and pull the loop as in step 1 above I then trim all the lengths at the bottom so they are All even
Here is the finished product this is a very simple one in comments I will post pics of other knots and ones I have made this will only let me upload 15 pics at this point
