Best New Year's resolution. Healthy eating, of course!
The micronutrients in home-grown sprouts just might be the best nutritional bang for your buck. Especially yummy broccoli sprouts!
Unbelievably Each Sprout May Contain as Many Phytochemicals as an Entire Plant!
(and there are about 4000 baby plants in one package of sprouts) https://sproutpeople.org/sprouts/nutrition/science/

You do not need to buy a sprout kit of any kind. I've been growing my own for a couple years now producing edible nutrients in just a few days. It has become a happy part of my meal-prep routine.

Just soak seeds, rinse & flip. Easy!
Here's the clean simple system I use.

Seeds & containers
Step 1. Buy Sprout seeds, save clear produce containers. I found good prices on Amazon for seeds. Faves: Food to Live Broccoli and a 5 Part Salad Mix that includes alfalfa, radish, mung bean, lentil and broccoli.
To start, try one, then add the other later for variety.

I reuse my Talenti Gelati pint containers and berry plastic boxes.
I figure my sweet-tooth vice gets balanced out this way. icon

Drill top
Step 2. Drill or pierce cap for draining. About half an inch apart, 8 to 12 holes.
Soak Overnight then Flip
Step 3 Soak seeds overnight in 1/4 cup cool water, 6-12 hrs. I start with 1.5 tablespoons of each mix (3 tbs yields 3 cups). You may want more or less depending on number of people who will consume.
Step 4 Drain water off by simply turning upside down. I use a container underneath to catch draining water.

Improper drainage is what leads to a spoiled batch (rot) -- that's why the Rinse & Flip idea is so cool!
Rinse twice a day then Flip, avoid light
Step 5 Rinse 2X daily in cool water. Keep covered or in dark place until you see lots of sprouts started. 3 days typical. I use a dark cloth overtop to simulate underground darkness, and put all in a basket to look neat on the counter.
Transfer growing sprouts to produce container
Step 6 Keep on a window ledge after sprouts form. I dump into an open fruit or veggie plastic container (one with holes inside one without) and rinse daily. Edible after just one or two days of sun exposure and most nutritious.
Nutrition drops off with each day after greening. So start another group in your pint container!
grow light helps
I use a grow light for those couple days of greening especially in the winter months. After breakfast til dinner-time.
It takes 5 minutes to get set up, then a few seconds twice a day to tend a crop that will be edible in just a few days. It costs pennies per garnish serving.

The nutritional value of fresh DIY sprouts is unbeatable, packed with micronutrients with as much food value as a mature plant!
So for folks that don't, or can't, get enough veggies, try these!
You literally just rip a chunk out--roots, seeds and all.
And make each plate prettier and healthier too!

I top all of my salads and decorate my main-course platters with these to sneak in the power punch of delicious micronutrients.

Or eat a chunk on the go to get a boost of the good stuff.
