Sorry to say this Barbara, but your stainless sink will never look like new again. You can achieve that with porcelain but not metal. Do you have Scotch Brite pads in your kitchen? The green ones? Those won't work. They also make a maroon colored pad, available on Amazon, that is more aggressive. You can use those to realign the scratches and make the surface more uniform and remove stains that you may have acquired from harsh acids or alkalis. Hopefully you will be satisfied with the appearance after a little polishing.

I filled my ss sink with bleach water to soak some stained dish towels and when I released the water, I had a nice surprise--a clean, shiny sink!

I periodically scrub my stainless steel sink with a soap infused steel wool pad like a Brillo pad. Scrub with the grain of the sink, not in circles.

I use a mixture of 1 cup baking soda and 1/3 cup castille soap (I like Dr Bronner's citrus) mix together till it's a paste. Use about the size of a quarter in the sink to scrub and it leaves my sinks shiny and clean.

look for Gloss gel- marble tops, stainless etc.. Goes on like car wax- on a dry surface, dry then buff with paper towels.

Simply sprinkle baking soda inside a damp sink, spray with vinegar and let set for an hour or so, you can also add a little hydrogen peroxide to the mix if you want. After it soaks, (I usually keep spraying more vinegar to keep it active) just rub down with a paper towel and rinse off with your sprayer. Your sink may never look like it did new, but this sure helps mine to shine. Since I always use vinegar and soda to clean, even soak skillets, pots and pans that way, my sink stays pretty shiny ... I never clean anything in my house, including baths, sinks, etc. with anything but soda and vinegar. No Chemicals ever! Good luck.
