Whitewashing Kitchen Cabinets

A firsthand account from an actual Dixie Belle Paint customer! I whitewashed glazed my worn kitchen cabinets, 20 years old and had never been touched other than cleaning.

Initially, I thought this was a "hail mary", or I needed to get all new cabinets. My cabinets look great! Actually like new, I have no idea what is in this glaze but it fill the raw worn area and gave the cabinets a uniform appearance that I love!

I am extremely happy with the finished product. The best part, took 1 Saturday by myself, only cost $60 (3 jars), and a few old rags.

First, I cleaned thoroughly with White Lightning to get rid of any dirt or residue.

Then, I just taped the hardware and left it on my cabinets since the glaze gave me plenty of time to wipe off any that I might have gotten on it. This is a super easy way to paint without having to remove and reinstall hardware!

I covered the cabinets with Whitewash Glaze from Dixie Belle to give them an older, worn look.

It's been finished for about a month now, and the cleanup has been very impressive also. I have been able to wipe any day-old food with a soapy sponge, no staining. I hope it continues; I didn't use anything but the glaze, not a sealer, nothing else!
