Kudos to you for trying this. Must have taken a lot of prep work but did you use a specialty paint for sinks or the usual Rust-Oleum spray cans? Is this a stainless steel sink or something else?
Not to be unkind, but there is a reason you won't see for sale a brand new painted sink. As good as pants have gotten to be they cannot hope to match the durability of the materials currently used in factories to make sinks. I can see no recourse other than replacing the sink you did not love with one you do.
If it was a seldom used bar sink you may get away with paint but for one that is used every day with dishes, flatware, and pots banging around in it? I just cannot imagine any consumer applied coating or way of installing that will last.
Use car paint and make sure you seal it we did bathtubs in a hotel
Replace it! Call your local Habitat for Humanity or salvage yard and get another one.
Its a stainless steel sink. Used the plain ol Rust-Oleum spray can!!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F4BZITS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1. you can restore it back to stainless with sand paper probably. I used this to restore a stainless sink I had damaged with chemical. Its not the belt but the type you need. I only needed the amount from one belt but....maybe you can find locally. Must MUST sand with the grain of the SS. I would worry about adding more paint over paint. I think you will have a mess.
Advice from my plumber btw!
Thanks Kelly, but I don't want to restore it back to stainless. I want to paint it, and make the paint stay.
