Raised Bed Garden Made From Salvaged Wood

My husband works for a State park and when they were going to take a large pile of used wood to the dump he asked to have it. Once we got it home we decided to use it to build our raised garden beds! We have a 24X24 garden bed area and to purchase the amount of wood new to do this project would have been very expensive. We knew we wanted to find salvaged wood and we had looked on craigslist but could not find the amount we needed. So this was a blessing and it saved the park from having to pay for the dump. WinWin !!!
24'x24' Garden Layout
I searched Pinterest and found this garden layout I liked because it has a 3' walk area and it allows me to maneuver the wheel barrow around easily.
Our Gate Entrance to the Garden
My husband had this old cow scull and painted it for some Texas flair! I wanted something a little more feminine but since he worked so hard to give me this garden, I let him do what he wanted. After all, marriage is about compromising! And I am so proud of his work!
Old Iron Farm Gate repurposed as trellis!
This old rusty gate was 16' long, it was too long so my husband cut it down to 14' to fit into the planter box and still allow the 3' walkway. This Spring it will be covered with Green Beans and Cucumbers! I can't wait! Visit my Blog to see all details.

Looks so amazing! I can't wait to see it in the middle of the growing season and at the end. You need to take pictures. Such a great garden.

So impressed Cindy with all your labors! My only concern in your garden project was the source of your wood. If it was treated in any way, it should never be used for food production. Hoping your great hubby knew the history of the wood!
