What options exist to modernize metal-trimmed windows with screens?

1970's wooden windows with metal trim around exterior edges. I see beauty and potential from the inside looking to outside. However, from the outside perspective, the metal trim seems to be distracting my enthusiasm a bit. What curb appeal options exist? Thanks!

Sincerely,
Dave

Metal trim around exterior of windows.
I like how my windows look from the inside perspective; in the summer I watch birds, and in the Fall I see the beauty of brightly colored leaves.

Dave - you can paint the metal trim to update the look of your home. Go to the paint store and ask about the best paint for exterior metal - most likely it will be oil-based.

      Hi Cindy,

Thank you for your kind feedback ~ I must give my wife the credit for your compliments. :0)

Also, I was hoping to hear someone say "black" for a shutter-color option, because it had crossed my mind a few times as being both bold and defining in character ~ thanks. As for white trim, I agree with you, because it's both clean and classy.

      Have a rewarding week!

      Sincerely,

      Dave

Are these windows doing the job of being energy efficient? I replaced mine with newer vinyl double pained ones.

      Good morning Lisa,

Thank you for the feedback. What window product and model did you upgrade to? Again, thanks!

What about painting shutters same color as front door? You could paint the upper and lowers different colors but may look the house unbalanced??? Have never seen a house with two different colors of shutters. Or use cedar for the shutters??

Downstairs Shutters could be White to balance better with white Boarding. or All shutters Stronger Turquoise or Olive Green then Door could be Burnt Orange. to blend with Brick. Bright Yellow Orange Green in Wall Baskets. Metal Frames White.

      Good morning John,

Thank you for the feedback. I like your creativity! I never thought about using green (i.e. bright colors), and I'm eager to use some photo editing techniques to play around with your suggestions. Thank you so much!

      Sincerely,

      Dave

The grids make the windows look amazing. I would paint the metal frame work a color that will stand out on both the white wall and the bricks as well. Maybe the same color as the door. Just saying... you can barely see that there are shutters on the brick because of the color.

I agree with everyone that a new shutter color would help. I would also look into painting the 2nd story a color that would blend better with your brick. Right now it just sticks out. There are products that you can even use to paint aluminum siding. Good luck!

      Thank you for your feedback!

General consensus appears to be paint the shutters with one contrasting color (perhaps black), and use an oil-based white (perhaps bright white) paint to cover the metal window trim.

      Again, thank you so much!
