My question as I watched these grandparents was always, "Why are you sweeping your yards, and why is there no grass around your house?" We have grass around ours.
Look for a product called, of all things, "deck cleaner". Us it in conjunction with a low powered pressure washer.

Power wash.
HI Lennea. If you have a pressure washer I would use that. Make sure to not have it set too high, or you can damage the deck. If not you can use a bucket of water w/ dish soap (a little goes a long way on a deck), hose, and push broom. First I rinse off the whole deck getting as much debris off as I can. Then I poor a little of the dish soap and water on spots that are really bad, and use the push broom as a scrub brush. I work in smaller areas to make sure I get all of it cleaned. After I have scrubbed the whole deck I rinse it off again. I always start close to the house and work my way to the edge, so the sprayer is pushing the dirt and soap off of the deck.
Thank you I’ll try this in the spring!
