A toddler's bed was thrown out on the curb and my friend Michelle loves to work with wood, so she grabbed it. She saw potential in this rickety old dirty bed. She took it apart to strengthen it and make it useful again. After she secured the bolts and hardware, she painted it to make the sides look new. You won't believe what she did to make this a real gem for the family! S he went shopping and found a large pillow to fit the size of the former mattress of the toddler crib.
She went shopping and found a large pillow to fit the size of the former mattress of the toddler crib.
A new paint job cleaned it right up. Then she replaced the worn out hardware.
Michelle cut the foot board in two to make sides and attached them to the head board.
Then a 2 x 4 secured the front.
L shaped brackets with plywood, or 2 x 2 braces screwed under the plywood to the sides and you have a resting place for the seat. Now you have a toddler or small child bench OR a pet bed. People are tending to keep their pets with them indoors now and rather than have their own sleep disturbed, they can keep their fur babies near them but off the bed. These 3 sided benches slide right up to a bed to make a fur baby feel like they are right next to you.
The pillow mattress can be removed and put back for wash and wear. What small child would not love this personal little bench just for them? Or what fur baby would not feel snug and secure sleeping on it in any room of the house?
Look what they found in the morning?

Can you do this with an old crib? I saved my crib for my kids to use. Only to find out it is not certified safe now because the one side goes up and down. Apparently that is not safe now. Thanks for your help!

Or an old toddler bed, they might be easier to find. Be sure to show us a photo when you do!
