Wire Violin Art

I wanted play around with some easy wall art and came across wire art. I decided to give it a go and try to make a wire violin for the wall. This project only needed 4 items to complete: floral wire, tweezers, scissors, and spray paint. It was also easy to do in a short period of time (aside from drying the spray paint), so I did it over a couple of lunch breaks. First, I looked to my husband’s violin for inspiration.
I don’t play the violin but I could see the major elements which I referred to as the following: the body, the string section, the swirly bit with knobs, the ‘s’ shaped holes, and the chin rest. Next, I began playing around with the wire to see what shapes I could easily make.
I made a small human figure of a man with a fishing pole to try to get the hang of working the wire to create shape.
Next, I took to constructing the violin. I started with the frame of it and made that extra thick. I found that the scissors were sufficient to cut the wire. The tweezers were great for clamping the wire tight and for those tight turns around other pieces. I also used a highlighter pen and pencils, and wrapped wire around then to create my round shapes. I wanted the piece to look a bit rough so I made zero effort to get a perfect, finished, flat, or even look. I’ve since seen other work that does that and it looks really cool, but not what I was aiming for.
Next, I made the string board, then attached it to the body of the violin.
Then I made the top piece with the swirl and knobs. Attached those and this was the product:
since the floral wire was green and I wanted something a little nicer for wall art, I took it out back and sprayed it with black spray paint. And ta-da!
A simple, easy project that looks nice on a bare wall. Tell me what you think about it.

I like it! I can see this over my piano. I have a violin but I'd never use as wall art like I e seen done. This is a good idea. Great job!
