Hi Charlotte, You could tell your husband you are going to hire someone to come fix it. He'll probably not want to spend the money and fix it himself. If that doesn't work, tell me what kind of faucet it is and I can probably tell you how to fix it!

    Good luck!

    Fix it yourself. It's simple.....

I agree. Fix it yourself. Either the nut or screws are loose from underneath. Laying in your back under the sink is the hardest part. A small rug would help with that. A flashlight will determine how to tighten it down. Easy fix.

  • I fix myself, and if beyond my skill set or I don't have the tools, I hire out. Granted I am no longer married, so for me it is not an option. When I was married, I would ask 3 times over a period of time (being sensitive to work schedules, etc,) , and if it didn't get done (or I couldn't fix it myself), I hired someone. That happened twice I think. And if I fixed something, I reminded him how much money we saved . . .

Now that we are divorced, he helps me fix stuff all the time, how did that happen???

I've always used the philosophy "If you want something done, just do it yourself"

Thanks all! All great suggestions and good info. William, I didn't really know what was involved, so thanks for the guidance and tips. I think I will atempt it, and I can't wait to see how it will play out 😆

Good for you Charlotte! There can never be too many questions asked in learning any diy project or new skill. You have come to the right place. There are always other Hometalkers eager to share their experiences, successes and yes, failures too.

      Keep asking, keep learning.

I start asking where this tool is or that tool, then I begin to fix something or make something and he will step in and take over :) LOL

My former husband was useless at fixing anything. I once asked his help to put shelves on a newly papered wall in my son's room - He must have used the biggest drill in the box and ruined the wallpaper. He randomly screwed holes in the wall by guess - no measuring. He created a horrible mess that I fixed and learned never to ask for his help again. We assume guys are good at this stuff - some just aren't. When we divorced - I took the tools and funny enough didn't he ask for a drill one day because he was going to put up a curtain rod for the women he cheated on me with. All I could think of is "karma" and to this day wonder how many nasty screw holes he made before he got the rod installed. I guess it wasn't good because they split too !

Hopefully, you told him to buy his own drill. As he wasn't getting yours. LOL. My ex husband wasn't very good with fixing stuff around the house either. When I divorced and remarried my second husband could do it all. House hold, engine work, electrical, plumbing etc. You name it he did it. My best girl friend's husband could do absolutely nothing, she taught herself how to do it and she did. She even tore an engine down and rebuilt it, her husband just watched. Crazy huh. So Melody, you are right never assume guys know how to fix stuff. Some men do and so do some women.
