With the recent bitter cold snap we had , I thought I’d post about keeping these tender plants safe during the freezing temps. As I drive around the area I notice lots of people did cover the tropical plants. What they haven’t done is uncover them during the warm sunshine time. Plants need the sun and air to thrive. So uncover during the warm part of the day and cover again before the sunsets or it starts to cool down.
I reuse plastic bags. The black ones offer heat till you uncover them. Place rocks on the bags so the wind doesn’t carry them away.
These are babies. I cut the top off a plastic bottle to protect from wind and also keep the plastic off the plants.
Here is the columbine . I’ve been trying to get these to grow here in Florida with little success. I am keeping these little green houses on till the warm weather decides to stay.
Not attractive but they are well protected.
Strawberries are enjoying not being covered.
I forgot about this tree and succulent, they are doing well . Remember to uncover your plants when the sun is out let the plants breathe .
