Stain is best for concrete, but with both dark and light spots like you have, stain wouldn't cover very well. The least expensive way I know is to just paint them.

You will have to hire a professional to do this; [because poly resin based paint is only sold to professionals]...but you may see if your local paint store has something similar[then you can DYI]. It coats the concrete & creates a smooth surface so it is easy to clean, can be mopped & waxed [if desired] & the paint can be mixed in any color.

Rub them down and use Concrete Floor Paint - or Lino- or Vinyl

We painted our concrete floors with no problem.

1st - sand (that part sucked!)

2nd - clean, clean, clean the floors

3rd - paint (we got our from a paint store to make sure it would adhere on cement)

    4th - a poly finish (a couple of coats)

It really is a simple thing to do, and it's very hard to mess up.

Do NOT do anything without talking/asking your landlord first. If the landlord is nice, he may give you the cost of the materials off your rent. If not, you could lose your deposit.

Hi LIsa, I would suggest power washing the concrete first with an etching concrete cleaner and rinsing well. Once it dried, use a roller extension and paint with a concrete floor paint.
