Have you ever had a moment where you just want to do something simple, something quick and easy and pretty, a project that won't take long but will look cute or neat or even super cool? That was me, today. I didn't want to expend a lot of time on a project, I just wanted to play with crafting, and hum to myself. Here's what I did......
I drew these back in 1979. Yeah, back when I could sit at my desk, with pens and pencils and super groovy music playing on the stereo. I found these decades later, and opted to laminate them, to save them. I stuck them on the wall with tape. I had been thinking on how to frame these, and I didn't want to buy a conventional frame. So I decided to create a simple, use whatever I had, kind of frame.
I had an idea....simple wood frame, with any kind of crafty stuff I had to decorate it! Yeah! Okay then, I took these out to the shop and found some 1/8th inch paneling in my burn bucket. I cut some strips out that would go around the pics.
Simplicity was my state of mind. Keep it simple. Four pieces of wood, and a cross piece to glue them all together.
I cut and placed my simple wood frame together, and glued the corners. I used sophisticated equipment to hold the pieces together as they dried.icon
Once the wooden frames were dry, it was fun time! I grabbed my spray cans of paint and just let the colors flow, blue and orange and yellow. I love spray paint!icon
I brought the frames in to dry, and pulled out items to decorate the frame with. Cut glass, yes. Beads, sure. Glitter, you bet! Keys and chain and Christmas bells, why not? I got stuff. Let's play!
Hmmmm, bells on the corners with that E6000 glue we all love. Modge Podge the frame and place cut glass spanning the lengths of the sides of the frame, and glitter to fill in!
Once the Modge Podge was dry, I flipped over the frames and E6000'ed glued slim chain to hang the frames with.
After the glue dried on the chain, I put little dabs of the E6000 glue on the pictures, and centered them in the frames.
There! This made my "keep it simple" project! I love color, and now my decades old hand drawn pictures have some awesome frames to show them off! I have some other projects coming up that are more in depth, and this one gave me a happy simple day to just relax and create for a moment with no pressure. Be happy! I bid you Peace!
